#3 - 1969 Chevrolet 4x4

1989-1999

This was the 3rd truck I built, it was a retired forest service truck. Tammy’s dad gave to me. Built it in my dad’s backyard in 1989 the drivetrain was 44 front 12 bolt rear w/limited slip, 402ci big block, Turbo 350, 203 t/case& custom 30gal fuel tank, my dad showed me how to build, 14ga sheet metal. We wheeled this truck every weekend exploring Arizona, partying at the river, fishing San Carlos even car shows and later a truck to haul my jeeps to events. It started out Turquoise then ended up Coral after rolling it on my 21st b-day. Yeah I used to drive like an idiot, thought I was a race car driver. Randy ran out of gas we left our girls, Tammy & Lacey, hauled ass back to camp to get gas, I barrel rolled on the way back. We ran a few miles with a 5 gal can, when we got back, girls were drunk, thought we were joking. Made for a shitty drive home, no windshield & the top smashed down. Got home stripped it in my driveway & replaced the cab, my dad would have been pissed. Once I got rid of all the bent shit I took it to his shop & finished it. Done in a little over a week. I told him the old cab didn’t have A/C. Some memorable times were partying &gate boarding at the Salt w/friends. One night Randy & I left Mr. B’s pub feel’n good, roll’n into his neighborhood all sideways & shit there was a cop. We were like “Oh shit” slowed down, he walked to my window as we cruised up & soon as I got next to him I roasted it. Randy’s was only two blocks away, Randy opened the gate I parked & jumped the fence & ran home. Randy’s dad wasn’t happy, 11 cops showed up trying to arrest Randy. He explained it wasn’t his truck. We couldn’t afford to get caught, it was a small town & we spent most of our teenage years running from Gilberts finest, the judge knew us by name. About 15 yrs later Judge Skousen showed up at the shop on a Harley wanting a ball removed from a hitch, we both looked at each other & said you look familiar. He says, “Campbell” & I was like yeah, “Oh shit Skousen” He asked, “Is this your place?” I said, “Yes”. He said, “Damn son glad to see you finally got your shit together”. I said “Thank you” as we laughed about the past
