#12 - Whitey 1997
Whitey, the 4th Jeep I built was almost a clone of pinky but had a few more options such as, an onboard premiere power welder, roof rack, windshield frame & just a little nicer all around with my first ever crate motor, a ZZ4 from GM. Building it was a good time, I finished it up at Central Truck, which is where I worked, also the Coors distributor for AZ. I’m pretty sure we would kill a truck load of beer, and partied like it was a Friday night, every night. I remember finishing it in early spring and giving 4-month-old Bailey a ride to grandmas every morning & feeling the crisp cool air, she loved it. We headed to the cinders in Flagstaff for the 4th of July. The Mexican (Mike Flores) was hauling the rental, a.k.a. Pinky & I had Whitey behind my 69’ Chevy, which had no AC. So, Tammy & the kids rode w/ Mexican in his Chevy. Tammy loved the AC but was offended when Mex put his earplugs in. My ride might have been hot but it sure was quiet lol. The, Mex and I headed to California for my first ever Star Trek run at Sierra Trek. What a great time & such a beautiful place. The final trip for whitey was close to home in the San Tan mountains before it became a gay park, closing down our trails where we use to bang many beers & even a lovely girl now and then as we watched fireworks from the top of the mountains. I remember running the washes, jumpin the berms & railing the corners, giving rides as the sun set. Tammy said take it easy we have to drive it home, as me & Helicopter Eddie drove off laughing saying if I’m not back in 5 come find me. Well, I blew a corner & smoked an iron wood tree, ripping the front axle out of it and into the oil pan, starting it on fire. Thank god my mom prays for me so I can live to tell you these stories. 9 Lives, my ass… thanks mom. RIP Whitey.
